Frog Festival Poster Unveiled
Jeremy Lavergne, Frog Festival Parade chairman, is extending an invitation for everyone to participate in the Rayne Frog Festival Grand Parade on Saturday, May 14.
“The Grand Parade last year had record-breaking entries, and we’re looking to make the parade as successful as or larger than the previous year,” says Lavergne.
The parade lineup will start at 10:00 a.m. on American Legion Drive, travel up North Adams and The Boulevard and end at the Frog Festival grounds. There is an affordable parade fee for everyone participating.
Lavergne said, “We are seeking entries from businesses, schools, clubs, school sports teams, school cheerleaders, local organizations, antique cars and trucks, and elected officials. We would like to see the involvement from our community to represent what you are about. Anyone interested in renting a parade float can contact me for prices.”
The Rayne Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture’s Frog Festival Committee will honor all cancer survivors on a special float, at no charge to ride; if anyone is interested in riding contact Jeremy at jeremylavergne74@yahoo.com or 337-280-1282. Deadline to enter the parade is Friday May 6, but you are encouraged to enter now.
While the parade is lining up, a parade block party will be held at Rayne City Hall. Blaine Dupont, owner of Dup’s DJ Services will provide music and free give-aways. As the parade rolls past the Rayne City Hall, all entries will be announced as an added bonus for participating in the parade.
If any business would like to have their name on the floats, all they need to do is come by the Chamber office and fill out a parade sponsorship for $100; or you can go to www.frogfestival.com and print one out and mail it in to Rayne Frog Festival, 107 Oak St., Rayne, LA 70578.
Years ago, high school marching bands would volunteer to march in the Frog Festival parade. Today, there are costs involved for the buses needed to transport the student musicians, and the Frog Festival Committee pays each marching band to be in the parade, plus the cost of renting floats. That’s what the parade sponsorships pay for. That is why every sponsorship is important, notes Lavergne.
The parade fees are $25 for non-profit groups/individuals and $75 for Business/Political.
No credit cards will be accepted. Cash, business/organization checks or money orders will be accepted.
A parade entry form, along with a list of parade guidelines and requirements are available on the www.raynefrogfestival website or forms are available at the Rayne Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture office.
Strike up the band and join the family fun at the 44th Annual Rayne Frog Festival Grand Parade, encourages Lavergne. A festival is not complete, if there isn’t a grand parade.
