Pellessier assigned to Crowley church in transition

4 men ordained by Bishop Deshotel to transitional diaconate

Sunday, at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette, Bishop J. Douglas Deshotel ordained four men to the transitional diaconate.
These men are Christopher Blake Cambre, Matthew Christopher Hebert, David Michael Rozas and René Joseph Pellessier.
As transitional deacons, these men are now capable of assisting Deshotel and other priests of the diocese by distributing Holy Communion, proclaiming the Gospel, presiding over funerals and burials (outside of Mass) and also by performing other charitable ministries. In the interim time before they are to return to their respective seminaries to continue their studies and preparation for their ordination to the priesthood, each of these four men has received an assignment to serve here in the Diocese of Lafayette, including here in Crowley.
Pellessier is assigned to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Crowley until he returns to his studies in August 2016.
The others’ assignments include:
Cambre is assigned to St. Anthony of Padua Church in Eunice until he returns to his studies in October 2016.
Hebert is assigned to Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Ville Platte until he returns to his studies in August 2016.
Rozas is assigned to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Kaplan until he returns to his studies in October 2016.
The Immaculate Heart of Mary Church is located at 621 North Avenue K in the southwest part of Crowley. The church is also on the same grounds where Redemptorist Catholic School is located.
Fr. Matthew Higgonbotham has been the priest serving Redemptorist Catholic and Notre Dame High.
