Sportsmen’s League fishing tournament winners listed

The Acadiana Sportsmen’s League sponsored its 35th ASL Annual Saltwater Fishing Tournament on Saturday, June 25, held at any landing in Louisiana as announced by 2016 chairmen Ken Bordelon and Dee DeRouen.
Fishing took place Saturday between 1 a.m. and 6 p.m. with boundaries between Texas and Mississippi. All Wildlife and Fisheries, State and Local Regulations were observed.
Weigh-in took place between 3-6 p.m. at the LSU Ag Building in Crowley with cash prizes awarded in five categories: red fish, speckled trout, flounder, drum and other.
Top fishermen for the day were:
Redfish - 1st place Sam Hernandez (9.14 ilbs.), 2nd place Johnny Casanova (4.54 lbs.), Jason Freeman (4.20 lbs.).
Speck - 1st place Johnny Casanova (4.13 lbs.), 2nd place John Jude Beslin (3.99 lbs.), 3rd place Lindsey Bergeron (3.10 lbs.).
Flounder -1st place Frank Heikamp Jr. (3.02 lbs.), 2nd place John Leger (2.09 lbs.), 3rd place John Nick LeBlanc (2.06 lbs.).
Drum - 1st place Joe Guidry (26.5 lbs.), 2nd place Justin Monk (25.0 lbs.), 3rd place David Guidry (17.5 lbs.).
Other - 1st place Robert Pellissier (19.0 lbs. garfish), 2nd place Carson Taylor (4.33 lbs. sheaphood), 3rd place Randy Thibodeaux (4.22 lbs. sheaphood).
Door prizes were also presented after all the fish were weighed in. Refreshments were also provided to all participants.
Thanks to the many participants and supporters of the 2016 event is expressed by the ASL for another successful tournament.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the many events and programs the Acadiana Sportsmen’s League sponsors throughout the year.
