‘Contemporary Masters’ at Hilliard Art Museum

The Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum located on the University of Louisiana at Lafayette campus has opened a new exhibit that showcases selected works on paper by 20th century and contemporary masters. On loan from the Art Museum of South Texas, the collection – “Contemporary Masters: Works on Paper” –  will be on display in Lafayette through Aug. 16.

The approximately 60 works in the collection include pieces from such masters as Josef Albers, Milton Avery, Alexander Calder, Salvador Dali, Lee Krasner, Sol Lewitt, Robert Rauschenberg and Andy Warhol.

The collection is intended to demonstrate the diversity and freedom of paper as a medium for finished works of art, studies for future development and, in the case of prints, a means for wider dissemination of an artist’s ideas.

The Hilliard University Art Museum is located at 710 E. St. Mary Blvd. and is open Tuesday through Thursday from  9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday from 9 a.m. to noon; and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for senior citizens (62 and over) and $3 for students (ages 5 to 17). Children under 5 enter free.
