Jolivette descendants attend 2014 family reunion

 

RAYNE - The Knights of Columbus Hall was the setting on Saturday, July 5, for the 2014 Jolivette family reunion.

The afternoon event was attended by descendants of Louis and Agnes Jolivette of Rayne.

The couple’s five children in attendance for the reunion were Patricia Foreman of Beaumont, TX, Cleveland Jolivette of Houston, TX, Brenda Duhon of Rayne, Sandra Smith of Renton, WA, and Marverlan Jolivette of Houston, TX.

Also in attendance were the couple’s 13 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

The eldest family member in attendance for the reunion was 78-year-old Cecile Johnson of Rayne.

The youngest family member in attendance was Turea Ann Jackson, daughter of Rasheeda Jolivette of Houston, TX.

Traveling the farthest to attend the reunion was Sandra Jolivette Smith of Renton, WA.

Family members and guests were served barbecue, dirty rice, baked beans, cornbread dressing, seafood cornbread dressing, green beans, corn, seafood fetticcine, potato salad, cake and cookies.

The hall was decorated in patriotic theme complete with July 4th decorations provided by Taisha Duhon.

Family members and guests attended the reunion from the Acadiana area, in addition to Shreveport, Houston and Beaumont, TX.

The next Jolivette reunion has been scheduled for July 4th weekend.
