Services set for Monday for L.J. Dailey

Longtime Crowley businessman was active in many local activities

L.J. Dailey, long active in the banking industry and in various civic and social events in Crowley died Tuesday morning, Aug. 5, in Lafayette. He was 75.

Born Jan. 12, 1939, in Crowley, Dailey graduated from Crowley High School and attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and Louisiana State University at Eunice. 

He spent over 45 years in the banking industry, 26 of those as the first president of the Crowley Building and Loan Association, now Home Bank. He also served as the first vice president, as a business development officer and as a member of the board of directors of the Crowley branch of Home Bank.

He was appointed to numerous board and chairmanships of the Louisiana Savings and Loans League and the United Savings and Loan League.

Locally, Dailey was a past president of Crowley Town Club (eight years), served as King Cimmer XXII of Crowley Town Club Mardi Gras, was a past captain of Krewe of Town Revelers and a past president of Greater Crowley Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture

He was a long-active member of the Rotary Club of Crowley, where he served as the District Governor’s Representative of District 6200 – Rotary International and was a Paul Harris Fellow.

He was a past president of Crowley Jaycees, a board member and past president of International Rice Festival and organized and directed the St. Michael’s Mixed Choir.

Dailey will be buried in services at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.

Geeesy-Ferguson Funeral Home, 301 N. Avenue F, is in charge of arrangements.
