Sandra Jane Oubre

Sandra Jane Oubre passed away on the evening of Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014, at the Baton Rouge General Hospital, her two sons by her side.

Sandra was born Nov. 3, 1956, to Alvie “Tommy” Oubre and Helen “Jean” Oubre in Lafayette. She was a native of Crowley and a graduate of Crowley High School. As a resident of Baton Rouge, Sandra worked for 22 years as an Information Technology Consultant for the Louisiana Department of Public Safety. 

Sandra was preceded in death by her father Tommy.

She is survived by her two sons, Kaleb Thomas Freeman and Tyler Everett Freeman; her mother, Jean Oubre; her brother, Michael Oubre and wife Shyrlene and their three daughters Erin, Danielle, and Caitlin. 

Sandra was a lifelong fan of NASCAR and LSU football, attending events as often as she was able. She was known for her fun-loving spirit and brought joy to all who had the pleasure of her presence. Her hobbies included cooking for her friends and family, hosting parties for her loved ones, winning best-dressed at costume parties, and attending the annual spring race at Talladega Superspeedway.  

Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 19, from 2 p.m. until time of service at 4 p.m. 

 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sandra’s honor to the American Cancer Society.
