Johnny L. Abshire Sr.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 4, at a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anne Catholic Church honoring the life of Johnny L. Abshire Sr., 62, who died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. He will be laid to rest at Immaculate Conception Cemetery with Reverend Keith Landry officiating the services.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, June Abshire of Forked Island; two sons, Johnny “Boo” Abshire Jr. and wife Sandra of Mississippi, and Joseph Allen Abshire of Kaplan; two daughters, Tricia Abshire of Lyons Point and Chasity and husband Ducre Prejean of Forked Island; two sisters, Martha Ann Abshire and Edla Marie Hebert, both of Baton Rouge; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edval Abshire and the former Mary Lou Istre; and one sister, Beverly Sue Fogarty.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Friday, Oct. 3, from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 4, from 8 a.m. until services.
