Donald R. Petry Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 11, in the chapel of Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home, for Donald R. Petry Sr., 73, who died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, at 8 a.m. in Crowley. Rev. Jimmy Broussard will officiate the services.

Donald was a native and lifelong resident of Crowley. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He owned and operated Petry’s Jewelry Store in Crowley with his father for 40 years.

The family requests visiting hours Friday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to service time. Burial will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum. 

Donald is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carolyn Hayes Petry of Crowley; one daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Petry of Springfield; three sons, Donald R. “Donnie” Petry Jr. and wife Allison of Lafayette, Brian Petry and wife Lisa of Youngsville and Billy Petry of Crowley; seven grandchildren, Erika Menard, Megan Coco, Beau Brasseaux, Taylor Petry, Skylar Petry, Cameron Petry and Emma Grace Petry; and three great-grandchildren, Layla Menard, Blaize Coco and Elizabeth Grace Coco.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Leona Petry; and one grandson, Donald R. “Trey” Petry III.
