Pink Ladies hold Annual Fall Meeting
An early meeting of the Pink Lady Board was held on Monday, Sept. 29, at 9 a.m. in the conference room of Acadia General Hospital so that plans could be finalized for the auxiliary’s general meeting.
President Gloria LeBlanc opened the meeting by calling on Chaplain, Evelyn Barousse to lead the Volunteer Pledge and Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance. Roll call and minutes were read by Roberta Sonnier, secretary, and the financial report was given by Treasurer Nettie Romero.
The board voted to continue to give Christmas hats to all the babies born at Acadia General during the month of December.
The Fall General Meeting and Luncheon was held by the Pink Ladies of the Acadia General Hospital at the Rice Palace in Crowley at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 1.
Members and guests were greeted at the door by Lorraine Mire and Lisa Thibodeaux and were registered for door prizes.
President Gloria LeBlanc opened the meeting and called on Chaplain Evelyn Barousse to lead the group in the Volunteer Pledge and Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. Minutes for the May general meeting were read by Secretary Roberta Sonnier, who reported that 5,039 service hours had been provided by the Pink Ladies.
LeBlanc then welcomed some of the Acadia General Staff who attended as special guests, including CEO Heather Harper, Associate Administrator Zachary Landry; CFO Charmaine Vidrine; Volunteer Manager Monica Guidry and CNO Caroline Marceaux.
Sonnier led the impressive Necrology Service in memoriam of the members who were deceased during the past year. Candles were lit in their memory and a brief obituary was read for each one. Those memorialized were Gwen Oliver, Imogene Lacour and Helen White.
Harper was called on to tell the group about her family and her experiences since moving to Crowley and becoming involved in the community.
She advised that some renovations will take place at the hospital and that a different group of doctors will be contracted to staff the emergency room.
Guidry also spoke, stating that the Pink Ladies’ motto and pledge embodied their involvement and services. She said that the Pink Ladies may be asked to volunteer for jobs other than the ones they are used to doing. The hospital staff has offered to help the organization obtain anything they need.
Afterwards, there was a drawing for the door prizes, with the lovely Fall centerpiece won by Rose Thibodeaux and three colorful croton plants were won by Ethel Menard, Dean Gaspard and Barbara Courville.
The blessing before meals was led by Evelyn Barousse and a buffet lunch was enjoyed by 33 Pink Ladies and their five guests.
