Mervin Paul Monceaux

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 13, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home for Mervin Paul Monceaux, 78, who died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014, in Shreveport.

He was a native and longtime resident of Crowley and moved to Shreveport six months ago to be near family. He retired from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development as a field engineer. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Deacon Rodless Leleux will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. to service time. A rosary will be recited Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Mr. Monceaux is survived by one daughter, Susanne Burk and husband David of Shreveport; one son, Jody Monceaux and wife Jennifer of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Jennifer Benthall, Daniel Burk, Emi Monceaux and Aiden Monceaux; and three great-grandchildren, Lilly Benthall, Peyton Benthall and Alia Burk.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty LaPointe Monceaux; one brother, Tony Monceaux; his parents, Isaac Monceaux and Orelia Prejean.
