Maria C. Rayo Serrano

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, May 6, at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Crowley for Maria C. Rayo Serrano, 19, who passed away at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette.
Fr. Cipriano, from St. Jules Catholic Church, officiated for the services. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley.
Maria was a native of Mexico and had been living in Crowley. She attended Crowley High School and was a senior and was planning to graduate this May.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 5, from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. A Rosary was recited Tuesday at 6 o’clock in the evening in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley. Visitation resumed Wednesday, May 6, from 8 a.m. until time of the services.
Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Hugolina Serrano and Alveriano Villarreal of Crowley; one brother, Jesus Rayo Serrano; her maternal grandmother, Felipa Baltazar; several aunts and uncles.
Maria was preceded in death by her father, Domingo Rayo; her paternal grandparents, Antonio Rayo and Virginia Carreῆo; and her maternal grandfather, Ignacio Serrano.
