Willie Clement
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 16, at St. Theresa Catholic Church for Willie Clement, 86, who passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2015 Fr. Imoru Godwin will be the funeral officiant.
Visitation will be held at the church from 8 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. Saturday. Interment for Mr. Clement will be at Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum in Crowley.
Mr. Willie Clement was born July 9, 1928. He was the son of the late Rodney Clement and Georgiana Johnson-Clement.
He was a life-long member of the St. Theresa Catholic Church family.
Mr. Clement was as Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He drove a school bus for the Acadia Parish School Board for 23 years. He served four years as commander of American Legion Miller Post #506. He was a member of Knights of St. Peter Claver Council #51. Mr. Clement also served three terms as city councilman, serving Ward 3, Division A.
Willie leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Joseph (Mary) Clement of Victorville, California, and James (Delores) Clement of Crowley; two daughters, Jacquelyn Clement and his baby daughter, Rebecca Clement-Guidry of Crowley; one brother, Henry (Margaret) Clement of Oakland, California; two special daughters-in-law, Rosa Clement and Janet Kneeland, both of Crowley; 14 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, friends; and a special friend, Ms. Willie Mae Minix.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Rodney Clement and Georgiana Johnson-Clement; two sons, Michael Wayne Clement and Willie James Kneeland; four brothers, Whitney, Allen, Lionel and Joseph Clement; one sister, Odelia Clement-Chaffers; and two grandsons, Keith Domino and Orlando Thomas Sr.
The family would like to especially thank Dr. Paul Stringfellow, the staff of Acadia General Hospital, the staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and the staff of Home Health 2000.
They also extend their sincere, heartfelt gratitude and appreciation of many friends, associates, neighbors and pastors for their prayers, kind words and support given to the family during their time of bereavement.
