Louella Marie Doucet Gotte
A Mass of Christian burial for Louella Marie Doucet Gotte, 85, of Iota, was held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Evangeline on Saturday, May 30, at 10 a.m. with Reverend Paul LaFleur officiating.
Visitation was held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Friday, May 29, from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation resumed on Saturday at 8 a.m. until the time of her funeral Mass. Louella will be laid to rest in Gott’s Cemetery.
Louella was born in Jennings on Jan. 24, 1930, to the late Allen Doucet and the late Anna Gotte Doucet. She was called to her Heavenly Father on May 28, 2015.
Louella was a homemaker who dedicated her life to taking care of her family. In her spare time she enjoyed reading and was an avid reader. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Louella is survived by two sons, Kevin Daryl (Diana) Gotte of Crowley and Bryan Gene Gotte of Evangeline; her daughter, Phyllis Gale (Wayne) Guidry of Evangeline; sister, Delores Venable of Gott’s Cove; beloved and cherished grandchildren, Jillane Bischoff, Rhiannon Gil and Cherie Bouterie; as well as, 14 great-grandchildren, Clare, Marianne, Meredith, Luke, Margaret Mary, John Paul, Alana, Gavin, Isabella, Vivian, Mary Elise, Alaina, Madeline and Abigail.
Louella is preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Anna G. Doucet; beloved husband, Merlin Gotte; one brother, Huey Doucet; and sister, Ethel Hewitt.
