Myrtle Mary Wingate Lyons

Mire, LA - Funeral services will be held at Assumption of the BVM Catholic Church in Mire, Monday, June 29, 2015 at a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am for Myrtle Mary Wingate Lyons, 95, who died Saturday, June 27, 2015 at home surrounded by her children and grandchildren in Mire.

Interment will be in the Assumption of the BVM Cemetery, Mire, LA.

Surviving are two daughters, Barbara L. Breaux of Sulphur, Gadric L. Fontenot and husband Al of Mire, five grandchildren, Mike Breaux of Sulphur, Mitchell Breaux and wife Karen of Arlington, TX, Billy Breaux and wife Julie of Sulphur, Kathryn Breaux Quin and husband Paul of Tampa, FL, Monique Sonnier Boudreaux and husband David of Spring, TX, eight great grandchildren, three step grandchildren, one step great grandchild, one sister-in-law, Henretta "Tuppy" Wingate of Church Point, numerous nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Charles Lyons, one daughter, Betty Lyons, father, Willie Wingate, Sr., mother, Amadine Perrodin Wingate, two sisters, Dorothy W. LeBlanc and husband Bill, Viola Wingate, three brothers, Harold Wingate, Sr., Willie Wingate, Jr. and wife Sadie, Rodney Wingate and wife Joyce, one son-in-law, Sherwood Breaux..

Mrs. Myrtle loved to cook for family and friends. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America 2214 in Mire and the Ladies Altar Society of Assumption of the BVM Catholic Church in Mire.

Divine Mercy Chaplet will be recited Sunday, June 28, 2015 at 3:00 pm.

A rosary will be recited by the Ladies Altar Society and The Catholic Daughters June 28, 2015 at 7:00 pm at Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne, LA.

Friends will be received at Gossen Funeral Home, Inc., Rayne, LA. Sunday, June 28, 2015, 10:00 am until 10:00 pm, Monday, June 29, 2015, 8:00 am until 10:30 am.

Pallbearers will be Billy Breaux, Mitch Breaux, Marvin Wingate, Eric Wingate, David Boudreaux, and Thomas Breaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Breaux, Bill Lyons, Ryan Breaux, and Ethan Boudreaux.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Gadric Fontenot/Nanny for her undying devotion to her mother, our grandmother. For the past decade, she dedicated her life to returning the love and care that our grandparents provided to all of us over the years.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Acadiana, Hospice nurse Patti Guidry, caregivers Joella Lease, Norma Henry, Tammy Carrier, Patsy Arceneaux, and Mary Alice Petitjean. We would also like to thank Sybil Blanchard and Vivian Faul for their numerous visits and gestures of support of the family.
