Charles “Charlie” Anthony Zaunbrecher
A Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church for Charles “Charlie” Zaunbrecher, 77 of Gueydan, on Monday, May 18, at 1 p.m. Visitation was held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home on Monday, May 18, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. with a rosary recited at 10 a.m.
Charlie was laid to rest in Gueydan Cemetery with Father Clint Trahan officiating.
Charlie was born in Gueydan, on Oct. 19, 1937, to the late Joseph Zaunbrecher and the late Mary Klien Zaunbrecher. Charlie was called to his heavenly Father on May 16, 2015.
Charlie loved being outdoors. He was a farmer all his life. Charlie was an avid supporter of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and School. He loved attending the sales at the sales barn and going to the rodeo. He also enjoyed watching football and baseball. Charlie was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Charlie is survived by two brothers, Ronald (Eldie) Zaunbrecher of Lake Arthur and William “Bill” (Nona) Zaunbrecher of Gueydan; as well as a very special niece and nephew, Monica Zaunbrecher and Joel (Patricia) Zaunbrecher, both of Gueydan.
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Zaunbrecher; five brothers, Philip, Wilfred, Frederick, Richard and Julian Zaunbrecher; and two sisters, Mary LeBlanc and Dorothy Toups.
Carrying Charlie to his final resting place in the Gueydan Cemetery were Joel Zaunbrecher, Richard J. Zaunbrecher, Martin Zaunbrecher, Neal Zaunbrecher, Jason Zaunbrecher and Blaise Zaunbrecher. Honorary pallbearers were Lyle Zaunbrecher and Justin Zaunbrecher.
