Chester F. Bellard

A loving husband and father, Chester Francis Bellard, passed away on July 28, 2014. He was born on Dec. 21, 1923, and raised in Church Point. He was a Boy Scout, a founding member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 8038, St. Jude Catholic Church, and had a distinguished career with the Soil Conservation Service.

He was the State Conservationist for the state of New Jersey and retired as the State Conservationist for the state of Mississippi. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and Master’s from the University of Michigan. He was loved by everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Eileen David Bellard; three children, Randy Bellard and wife Marie; Kirk Bellard and wife Ann; and Betty Barbre and husband Charles; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at noon Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 2 Cemetery in Church Point. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for prayers for Chester, Eileen and the family.
