Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 25, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, for Corine Thompson JohnBaptist, 68.

Visitation will be held at the church from 8:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., Saturday, April 25. Internment will follow at South Crowley Cemetery.

God sent his angels to Corine Thompson JohnBaptist on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at 1:45 a.m. at Camelot Rehabilitation Center to take her from her earthly home to her heavenly home.

Corine Thompson was born Sept. 16, 1946, in Lafayette to Hardy Thompson and Mercedes Trahan. She was raised by her aunts, Annie Jones and Jennie Green.

She occasionally attended both Israelite Baptist Church and Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Corine was an employee of the ASSIST Agency for 16 years as she affectionately cared for battered women and children.

She was the mother of Joycelyn Latrese Thompson. On Nov. 14, 1992, Corine married Cleveland JohnBaptist.

Corine leaves to cherish her precious memories her husband, Cleveland JohnBaptist; her daughter, Joycelyn Latrese Thompson; four grandchildren, Corina Thomas, Jalyn Felix, A’liazsha Felix and Javonti’ Felix; one great-granddaughter, Jadan Felix; four brothers, James Earl Johnson Jr. of Crowley, Rodney Rogers (Benaye) of Duncanville, Texas, Leo Rogers (Barbara) of Crowley and Leon Rogers (Mona) of Fayetteville, North Carolina; six sisters, Antonio Best (Donnie) of Marksville, Sandra Faye Washington (Clyde) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Hilda Bryant (Gary), Phyllis Payne, Jacqueline Riley and Linda Gilder (Larry) of Beaumont, Texas; three aunts, Vera Hampton (LeRoyal) of Dallas, Texas, Ivory Solomon and Rita Martin of Crowley; two sisters-in-law, Leona Guillory (Earl) of Iota and Lynette Batiste of Welsh; one brother-in-law, Jerome Batiste (Faye) of Lake Charles; 33 nieces and nephews; and a host of great-nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Corine was preceded in death by her parents, Hardy Thompson and Mercedes Trahan; four brothers, Darrell Johnson, Harvey Thompson, Edward Thompson and Kelvin Rogers; six uncles, Eugene Trahan, Tracy Trahan, Willie Trahan, Henry Thompson, Ellis Thompson and Curtis Bean; seven aunts, Jennie Green, Annie Jones, Laura Trahan, Gloria Trahan, Geraldine Williams, Hilda O’Neal and Josephine Stateman; one niece, Natalie Johnson; and one brother-in-law, Lionel Batiste Jr.

Wilturner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
