Helen H. Romero
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Helen H. Romero, 77, will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Crowley with Rev. Andre Metrejean, associate pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott, as celebrant. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 16, beginning at 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until just prior to the time of service.
Interment will follow the service and will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Romero passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Helen was a longtime resident of Village Du Lac community and a lifetime homemaker, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her three daughters, Rachel Dietz and husband Brent of Iota, Trina Habetz and husband Mark of Scott and Veronica Primeaux and husband Brian of Youngsville; seven grandchildren, Tracey Lassere, Stephanie Semmes, Nicole Habetz, Kadie Primeaux, Gabrielle Dietz, Caleb Dietz and Devin Dietz; five great-grandchildren; five brothers, Hubert Hayes, Valerie Hayes Jr., Michael Abshire, Tommy Hayes and Jeffery Hayes; and four sisters, Cathy H. Trahan, Janice H. Sensat, Becky H. Breaux and Kim Hayes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph B. Romero; parents, Valerie Hayes Sr. and Genevieve Cormier Hayes; two brothers, Herbert Hayes Sr. and Gregory Hayes; and one sister, Brenda H. Simon.
Pallbearers will be Mark Habetz, Brian Primeaux, Brent Dietz, Herbert (Brother) Hayes Jr., Trey Hayes and Jeffery Hayes.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Gene Brierre, Our Lady of Lourdes Oncology Unit, Hospice of Acadiana, Village Du Lac; The Miles Perret Center, The Rosary Altar Society of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, along with all of her other physicians and other health care providers.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Hospice of Acadiana or the Miles Perret Center.
