Joshua Mackenzie Edmond

Rayne—A Mass of Christian Burial for Joshua Mackenzie Edmond, 24, will be celebrated on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 1:30 P.M. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rayne.  Father Samuel Fontana will serve as celebrant.  Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery #2, Rayne.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 8:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. in Duhon Funeral Home, Rayne.

Josh, as he was known to his family and friends, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 9:00 P.M. in a Ruston hospital.

A native of Rayne, Josh was a 2008 graduate of Rayne High School.  He attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, where he had entered his senior year as an English major.  Josh’s dream was to serve others as a speech pathologist.  

Josh worked at AT&T as a sales consultant, and was proud of his being named a Gold Winner by the company for his excellent job performance.  

Josh always felt the call to serve others, especially young people. During his time in Ruston, he served as a Louisiana GEARUP counselor and a Boys & Girls Club volunteer.  Josh was well-loved by all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his mother, Josette Edmond of Rayne; sweetheart, Taylor Tatum; grandparents, Flora Edmond of Rayne, and Melvin Lawrence of Rayne; aunts, Bernadette Robinson and husband, Robert of Scott, and Joachina Fong of California; uncle and Godfather, Cardell Edmond, Sr. and wife, Danielle Francis Edmond of Rayne; cousins, Abraham Earnest, III, Talei Fong, Cardell Edmond, Jr., Sydney Edmond, Bernadette Fong, Kendal Edmond, and Ryan Robinson; Godmother, Charlene Champagne Batiste; brother, Jeremy Edmond of Rayne; and best friends, Blair Hanks and Josiah McCloud.

Preceding Josh in death was his great-grandmother, Bernadette Arceneaux.

Serving as pallbearers are Cardell Edmond, Sr., Abraham Earnest, III, Cardell Edmond, Jr., Paul White, Josiah McCloud, and Paul Cagle.
