Lois Elaine Gossen Bennett
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 20, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne for Lois Elaine Gossen Bennett, 88, who passed away Monday, May 18, 2015, at Acadia General Hospital in Crowley after a lengthy illness.
She is survived by five daughters, Ann B. Gallagher of Houston, Lorraine Bennett of Lafayette, Robin B. Deady and husband Ronald of Spring, Texas, Constance B. Johnston of Rayne and Peggy B. Boulet and husband Brian of Crowley; 12 grandchildren, Matthew, Mark and Sean Gallagher, Kathryn G. Tamminga and husband William, all of Houston, Sarah Miller Mitchell and husband Parker of Crowley, Annie, Mary Margaret and Kaitlin Deady of Spring, Texas, Christopher Johnston and wife Vera of Rayne, Kevin Johnston of Lafayette, Lauren Boulet of Crowley and Lindsey Boulet and fiance Carl “Joey” Stelly Jr. of Crowley; two great-grandchildren, Ellen and Molly Tamminga of Houston, Texas; one sister, Peggy Gossen; one brother, Frederick Gossen Sr. and wife Annette; and one sister-in-law, Barbara R. Gossen, all of Rayne.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Joseph and Rita Hebert Gossen; former husband, Harrison Freeman Bennett; two grandchildren, Ashleigh Miller and Eric Johnston; one son-in-law, Gregory Gallagher Sr.; and one former son-in-law, Morris Johnston.
She was a lifelong resident of Rayne, a member of St. Joseph Lay Carmelite Community and The Good Samaritan service organization at St. Joseph Church.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 20, in church from 10 o’clock to noon, with a Rosary at 11 a.m. Funeral will be at noon with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery #2.
