Louis Alvin Breaux

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, June 2, at 2 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Lyons Point for Louis Alvin Breaux, 85, who died Saturday, May 30, 2015, at 2:33 p.m. at Regional Medical Center of Acadiana in Lafayette.
Mr. Breaux was born in Port Neches, Texas, and was a longtime resident of Crowley and Lyons Point. He was a retired rice farmer, Eucharistic Minister at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, and a member of Knights of Columbus Council 5499.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served his country during the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Post 15 and VFW Post 6720. He was a graduate of Southwestern Louisiana Institute and supporter of ULL.
Mr. Breaux was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, devout Catholic and someone who was always dreaming of the next vacation.
Fr. Clint Trahan, pastor of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, will officiate for the services. Visitation began Monday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. and continues Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A rosary was recited Monday at 6:30 p.m. by Deacon Tom Sommers.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum.
Mr. Breaux is survived by his wife of 63 years, Norma Melancon Breaux of Lyons Point; two daughters, Sandra B. Willey and husband Howard of Cary, North Carolina, and Carolyn B. Miller and husband Allen of Scott; one son, Brian Breaux and wife Lane of Baton Rouge; five grandchildren, Melanie Norwood, Rachel Fryoux, Kevin Willey, Michael Miller and Stephen Miller; and two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Paige Fryoux.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dalton and Laura Theriot Breaux.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Nancy Walker, the nursing staff of Acadia General Hospital, the ICU nursing staff of Regional Medical Center of Acadiana and Dr. Mohammed Amari for their dedication, compassion and untiring care for Mr. Breaux during his illness.
