Merlin J. Alleman

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne for Merlin J. Alleman, 84, who passed away surrounded by his family at Acadia General Hospital at 12:08 P.M. on August 3, 2015.
Fr. Samuel Fontana, Associate Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne will officiate for the services. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Church New Cemetery in Rayne, LA.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Tuesday, August 04, 2015 at 4:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday at 6 o’clock in the evening in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 8:00 A.M. until time of services.
Survivors include his wife of sixty two years, Della M. Alleman of Rayne; three daughters, Linda and husband, Mike Conroy, Sarah and husband, L.J. Credeur, and Mary and husband, Steven Thibodeaux all of Rayne; one son, Robert and wife, Beverly Alleman of Rayne; one sister, Judy Leger of Rayne; one brother, Gabe and wife, Brunella Alleman of Rayne; twelve grandchildren, Jason and wife, Marla Menard, Lynette and husband Danny Guidry, Holli Abbadie, Jami Abbadie, Brandon Alleman, Dakota and husband, Trey Landry, Blane and wife, Skye Credeur, Lance and wife, Lana Thibodeaux, Lana and husband, Brad Thibodeaux, Kaitlin Thibodeaux, Savannaha Alleman and Joseph Alleman; three step grandchildren, Rachael, and husband, Rhett Pope, Doug and wife, Amanda Conroy and Scott and wife, Stacey Conroy; eight great grandchildren, Hailey Menard, Hannah Menard, Hagan Menard, Jessi Cary, Taylon Benoit, Nevin Nicko, Laken Thibodeaux and Maks Thibodeaux; fourteen step great-grandchildren, Jade Durio, Kane Guidry, Coy Guidry, Mia Guidry, Quinn Guidry, Lex Guidry, Jordan Dostillio, Wyatt Pope, Spencer Pope, Ava Conroy, Declan Conroy, Greer Conroy, Ashley Conroy, and Kacy Conroy; four step great-great grandchildren, Jaylon Reed, Danni Grace Meche, Waylon Jude Meche and Lee Michael Guidry.
Mr. Merlin was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie Alleman; one grand-daughter, Anitra Alleman; his parents, Ulysee and Josette B. Alleman; one sister, Patsy Alleman; six brothers, Clifton Alleman, Ellie Alleman, Leroy Alleman, Kermit Alleman and Ernest Alleman.
Mr. Alleman was a long time French Musician. He enjoyed playing the guitar, spending time with his family and watching and caring for his purple Martins. Mr. Alleman recorded a song in which his wife wrote, “Knowing You Will Never Be Mine”. He also recorded the song “The Stelly Waltz”. He was a great joke teller; he got much enjoyment watching and making people laugh. He never met a stranger; he loved meeting and visiting with people.
