Rodney J. Roy

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, June 20, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iota for Rodney J. Roy, 81, who died Friday, June 18, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Jennings American Legion Hospital.
Mr. Roy was a native and lifelong resident of Iota. He retired as a tool pusher in the oilfield, was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in Iceland during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, American Legion Post 371, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Knights of Columbus.
Fr. Jude Thierry, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, officiated for the services. Visitation was Friday from noon to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. A rosary was recited Friday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Mr. Roy is survived by his wife of 55 years, Anita Miller Roy of Iota; one daughter, Andrea “Angie” Roy Ewing and husband Kirk of Iota; three sons, Anthony James Roy, Thomas John Roy, Scott Allen Roy and wife Stephanie, all of Iota; two brothers, Leonard Paul Roy Sr. of Iota and Casper Joseph Roy of Erath; 12 grandchildren, Casey Ewing, Cody Ewing, Tristan Roy, Travis Roy, Rachael Roy, Jessie Roy, Ethan Roy, Andrew Roy, Halle Fulton, Landon Roy, Griffin Roy and Harrison Roy; and two great-grandchildren, Carter Ewing and Elijah Roy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Hazel Hebert Roy; and one brother, Merlin Ray “Bobby” Roy.
Pallbearers were Scott Roy, Casey Ewing, Cody Ewing, Leon Roy Jr., Leven Miller and Brian “Al” Foreman.
