Sadie Bell Harmon

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Cunningham C.M.E. Church, with Rev. W.K. Rucker officiating, for Sadie Bell Harmon, who died at approximately 12:15 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2015, at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Lafayette surrounded by her family.
Burial will follow in the Branch Cemetery, Branch, LA.
She was born on August 30, 1930, to Odelia Butler and Ernest Harmon. Upon the loss of her mother at age 2, she lived with her father and stepmother, Harriet. As a child, she lived with her aunt Charlotte Jenkins, who she called “Nannie” in Orange, Texas.
She was a dedicated member of Cunningham C.M.E. Church where she was a stewardess and member of the Missionary Ministry. She was a recognized leader for her tireless work in the church and community.
She leaves her strength and love to her children, Percy (Glora Jean) Harmon, Alfred (Felcia) Kelly Jr., Velina Kelly, Edra (Freddie) Broussard, Judie Frank, Dannie (Markeitha) Harmon, Annie Harmon and Donna Harmon; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her siblings, Leser “Prevost” Harmon (Jane), Harold Harmon and Elnora Charles, all of Rayne, LA; sister-in-law, Lonnie Harmon of Rayne; and son-in-law, Curtis Wilridge of Rayne.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Odelia Butler and Ernest Harmon; her brothers, Lawrence “Tabby” Harmon, Gatta Harmon Sr., Percy “PR” Harmon, Wilton Harmon, Howard Harmon, Ernest Harmon Jr; her sisters, Odelia “Baby Sis” Harmon and “Tut” Harmon; daughter, Rosie Wilridge; set of twins, and baby boy; grandchildren, Quintella Harmon and Skyler Kelly; daughter-in-law Cheryl Harmon; along with relatives and friends.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Wilturner Funeral Home of Crowley.
