Virgie Marie Guidry Leleux

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Aug. 29, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Lyons Point for Virgie Marie Guidry Leleux, 93, who died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015, at 11:05 p.m. at Iberia Medical surrounded by her loving family.
Fr. Clint Trahan, pastor of St. John the Baptist, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Friday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Lois Leleux Broussard and husband Kenwood Broussard of New Iberia; three granddaughters, Angie Broussard and husband Jacob, Lynn Broussard LeBlanc and husband Bart and Donna Broussard; three great-grandchildren, Evan Broussard, Owen LeBlanc and Kinsley LeBlanc; one sister, Mary Lou G. Primeaux; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Odey Leleux; her parents, Oneidas Guidry and Alice Leleux Guidry Broussard; one brother, George Guidry; and one sister, Valerie Mae B. Houston.
A native of Lyons Point and a resident of New Iberia for the last 12 years. Mrs. Leleux was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, devout Catholic, member of St. John the Baptist Ladies Altar Society and friend to all who knew her. She knew no strangers. Mrs. Leleux was an avid gardener and cook. She especially loved to cook for a lot of people and bake cakes for every special occasion. Mrs. Leleux had a very strong work ethic and continued to perform household chores until her death.
Pallbearers will be, Kenwood Broussard, Robert “Bobby” Houston Jr., Kevin Guidry, Wendall Guidry, Jacob Broussard and Bart LeBlanc.
