Wilson Abshire
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for Wilson Abshire, 95, who died at 11:55 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, in Crowley.
Fr. Michael Polson, pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church, will celebrate the Mass. Visitation may be observed on Tuesday, Nov. 4, from 9 a.m. until service time. The Rosary will be prayed at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery.
Mr. Wilson was born Dec. 9, 1918, in Lyons Point to the late Theo and Lilly Lejeune Abshire. He was a lifelong member of St. Michael Catholic Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 15 of Crowley.
He is survived by his wife, Lenora P. Abshire of Crowley; two sons, Charles Abshire and wife Marcella of Opelousas and Paul Abshire and wife Carmen of Baytown, Texas; six grandchildren, Ashley Monceaux, Bradley Abshire, Cullen Abshire, Paul Jessie Abshire, Conrad Abshire and Jarrod Abshire; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Michael Abshire.
