Parish animal shelter annouces new hours
St. Martinville — Beginning April 1 the St. Martin Parish Animal Shelter will be open Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., and Saturdays 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Closed on Sundays and Mondays.
The new hours will enable those who want to adopt a pet but work Monday-Friday to stop by the shelter on Saturdays.
Spring time has arrived and so has unwanted litters of cats and dogs. The shelter is filled with puppies and kittens.
Since the shelter has limited space available to house these unwanted pets and many are euthanized after seven days. Each week pictures are taken of adoptable pets and placed on www.petfinder.com.
Spay/neuter certificates are available to those who qualify through the St. Martin Humane Society, 845-4522. Foster homes are always needed for cats and dogs.
If you are thinking of getting a pet, visit the St. Martin Animal Shelter and save a life, adopt a cat or dog from the shelter.
The annual rabies clinic will take place Saturday, April 19 and Saturday, April 26. Check the April 16 issue of the Teche News for a complete listing of the stops. The fee is still $5. To adopt a pet from the St. Martin Parish Animal Shelter, call 394-1220.
