St. Martinville Police Department
St. Martinville – Veteran policeman Todd D’Albor was promoted to chief administrative officer of the St. Martinville Police Department at the City Council meeting Monday evening.
The move puts D’Albor – a graduate of the FBI Academy, polygraph examiner’s school others – in the position of office manager under Chief Paula Smith and Assistant Chief Nary Smith (no relation to Paula).
D'Albor will also continue to function as a detective in the department.
In addition to an earlier stint with SMPD, D’Albor has also worked for the St. Martin and Iberia sheriff’s offices.
In another action, the council approved requiring new SMPD hires to sign an agreement acknowledging that they will have to repay all or part of the cost of training if they leave the department within two years of completing that training.
At the request of Councilman Mike Fuselier, the council amended the policy to include the cost of advanced training.
“Did anybody ever leave after taking FBI training?” Fuselier asked.
All eyes turned to D’Albor, grinning in the back.
“At least we got him back,” quipped Mayor Thomas Nelson.
