Bias family holds 15th annual reunion

The 15th Bias Family Reunion was held on July 17-19 at the Martin Luther King Center in Crowley.

Over 350 guests traveled from California, New York, Texas and various cities in Louisiana, and on Friday were treated to refreshments of jambalaya, green beans, rolls and desert. At a picnic on Saturday, guests were served barbecue hamburgers, hot dogs, potato chips and watermelon. The Sunday reunion dinner consisted of barbecue chicken and sausage with all the trimmings, and red velvet cake for desert.

Decorations in the Martin Luther King Center were red, white and blue, consistent with the theme “With Family We Can,” saluting the 44th President of the United States Barack Obama.

Entertainment was provided by D.J. Step.

Persons acknowledged during the reunion were Blair Foster, youngest in attendance; Anna Williams, wisest in attendance; Flora Walker, traveled the farthest; Audrey Bias, chairperson for the St. Landry Parish Bias Family Reunion; and Linda Bias, chairperson for the Calcasieu Parish Bias Family Reunion; Aaron Hill, historian; Teressa Bias, co-chairperson; Vicky Bias Milson, co-chairperson; and Anthony Bias, chairperson.

The next Bias Family Reunion with be held in Lake Charles in 2011.
