Couple united during Roberts Cove vows

The picturesque St. Leo IV Catholic Church in Roberts Cove was the setting on Saturday, April 17, 2010 for a Nuptial Mass uniting Bailey Elizabeth Bullock and Lucas Paul Leonards in marriage. The double-ring ceremony was officiated by Rev. Kevin Bordelon.

The bride is the daughter of Harold Clark Bullock and Yvonne R. Bullock of Branch. Her grandparents are Marlton and Shirley Bullock of Branch, Dorothy Richard of Roberts Cove and the late Deynoodt Richard. She is a 2006 graduate of Rayne High School, attended Unitech in Lafayette, and is employed by Albro, Thibodeaux and Touchet Physical Therapy Clinic in Jennings as a physical therapist tech.

The groom is the son of Lillie H. Leonards of Rayne and Paul Leonards of Crowley. His grandparents are Mary Lee Leonards of Crowley, the late Leo Leonards, Ollie Harmon of Branch and the late Ray Harmon. He is a 2006 graduate of Church Point High School, attended Technical College, and is employed by Cetco Pipeline Co.

Ushering guests to their seats for the ceremony were Gregory Ohlenforst and Jarrod Bullock, cousins of the bride, and John Bush, cousin of the groom.

Providing musical selections were organist Andrew Pallie and vocalist Denise Brignac.

Scriptures were recited by Margaret Comeaux, aunt of the bride, and Billy Bullock, uncle of the groom. Gifts were offered by Barry Chiasson, godfather of the bride, and Leo Leonards, godfather of the groom.

Traditional items selected by the bride for her wedding day included a cross that belonged to her great-great-grandmother as something old, her wedding dress as something new, pearl jewelry from her godmother as something borrowed, and her shoes were something blue.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory taffeta wedding dress accentuated with capped sleeves and a slight sweetheart neckline. The bodice was enhanced with sequins and pearls from which flowed an A-lined, caught-up, floor-length skirt. A sequined hair comb held a veil of white bridal illusion for a headpiece. She carried a gathered bouquet of orchids with a mixture of green and white roses and a hint of berries.

Attending the bride as maid of honor was Mary-Margaret Gossen, cousin of the bride. Matron of honor was the bride’s sister-in-law, Ellie Bullock.

Bridesmaids were Amanda Ohlenforst, Mandy Richard and Ellen Melancon, friends of the bride, and Miranda Burnell, sister of the groom.

Bridal attendants each wore a knee-length dress of plum satin featuring capped sleeves and a gathered waist with three tucks to complete the hemline. Each carried live orchids and roses.

Flower girls were Madeline Bullock, niece of the bride, and Anny Burnell, godchild of the groom. Each wore a sleeveless, A-lined dress of ivory taffeta gathered with a plum satin ribbon.

Attending the groom as best man was Cody Carrier, friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Bryce Bullock, brother of the bride; Matt Baronet, cousin of the groom; and Jeremy Murphy, Billy Baker and Brayton Leger, friends. Serving as ring bearer was Hayden Bullock, godchild of the bride.

For her daughter’s wedding, the bride’s mother wore a formal two-piece pants suit including a taupe silk top accented with black details and three quarter-length sleeves over black palazzo pants. The groom’s mother selected a long, floral chiffon of green and purple.

Immediately following the wedding, a reception was held at The Crossing at Mervine Kahn in honor of the newlyweds. Among the refreshments provided for the guests was the bride’s cake, a three-layered white confection accented with live orchids. The groom’s cake was a traditional chocolate confection topped with a miniature wood duck.

Guests attended the wedding from Rayne, Crowley, Church Point, Branch, Lake Charles, and points of Texas and Mississippi.

Prior to the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents on Thursday, April 15, at Chef Roy’s Frog City Restaurant in Rayne.
