Attakapas Study Club learns scarf-tying

The Attakapas Study Club of Crowley met on Feb. 11 at the home of Jackie Keyes, which was beautifully decorated in a Valentine’s Day theme.

There were 16 members and one guest present. In addition to Keyes, members present were Ella Bertrand, Erma Walton, Jackie Buescher, Bettie Duhon, Shirley Griffin, Barbara Lengefeld, Bonnie Matirne, Gerry Meche, Mae Prather, Joanna Pruitt, Elizabeth Regan, Dot Simon, Jeri Stevenson, Ethel Thibodeaux and Roy Lynn Trahan.

Lengefeld, who is president, called the meeting to order and welcomed the guest, Norma Nix, who was introduced by Regan.

Mech, the secretary, read the minutes and called the roll. She also read a thank you note from Monica Dailey of Crowley Kindergarten expressing appreciation to the club for the donation given to help make Christmas more memorable for some of their children. Buescher gave the treasurer’s report

After committee reports and business discussion, the president called on Keyes, who was the program presenter for the day. Keyes entertained with a very informative program entitled “Scarf Art” using a drawer full of her own scarves in many shapes and sizes to demonstrate the unusual ways they could be worn. Some members brought their own scarves to get advice from Keyes about how to tie them.

After the program, the hostesses, Buescher, Matirne and Walton assisted Keyes in serving Valentine refreshments.
