Pastor Donald Burnette Sr. honored

Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Crowley honored its minister of 31 years, Pastor Donald R. Burnette Sr., along with First Lady Sister Dorothy Burnette, at a “Fellowship for Love” banquet held Saturday, Aug. 2, at the Martin Luther King Center.

James Etta David served as mistress of ceremonies for the love-themed event, with James Washington offering a scripture lesson on 1 John 4:7.

A prayer was offered by Michael Burnette, and guests were welcomed by Mary Dugar, pastor’s aid president.

Solos were sung by Jo Ann Morgan and Agra Martin, and Dianne Bess read a poem in honor of the occasion.

The guest speaker for the event was Rev. Watt A. Golden, associate minister of True Light Baptist Church in Baton Rouge.

Guests at the banquet enjoyed pork roast and ham with all the trimmings.

Following the meal, gifts were presented by Dianna Thorne and closing remarks were made by Dugar and Pastor Burnette.
