Three-Ten club holds January meeting

 

The Three-Ten Club’s first meeting of the new year was held at the Crowley home of Alice Whiting on Tuesday, Jan. 20. Co-hosting the meeting with Whiting were Muff Bier and Joellen Hindman.

After the meeting was called to order by President Sandy Melancon, Gretchen Ohlenforst led the group in the club collect and the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll was called and November meeting minutes were read by Sissy Gall, secretary. Bobbie delaHoussaye presented the treasurer’s report.

Ann Mire, assistant librarian at the Acadia Parish Library, was the guest speaker. Mire shared a little about herself with the club, before presenting a program entitled “Deranged Roman Emperors, Caligula and Nero,” after which an open discussion followed.

A slate of new club officers for the 2015-2017 term was presented by Nominating Committee Chairman Carolyn Barousse and will be voted on at the February meeting. The club members also discussed plans for their annual Spring Fling Social, which will be hosted by Gall, Jackie Fogleman, Brucie Landry and Sarah Bercier.

During the “Getting to Know You” segment of the meeting, members Carolyn Barousse, Louise Morrow and Barbara Geesey shared tidbits of their personal histories, as well as meaningful events and connections in their lives.

Following the meeting, the members enjoyed refreshments and fellowship.

In addition to those previously mentioned, members in attendance included Isabella delaHoussaye, Virginia Duson, Betty Faulk, Flo Faulk,  Letza Fogleman, Kay Frugé, Mary Beth Geesey, Suzanne Gray, Patti Lawrence, Peggy Sandidge, M’elise Trahan, Valerie Trahan and Helen Zaunbrecher. Associate member Barbara Scanlan was also present.
