1 arrested in shooting

A shooting in the Church Point area has left one man dead and a suspect arrested, according to a news release by the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office.
In the release, Sheriff Wayne Melancon announced an arrest in connection with the homicide that occurred Sunday, April 17.
The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call shortly before midnight, on April 17, regarding a shooting off of Peach Bloom Highway near Church Point.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered a deceased male, later identified as Anthony Citizen, 32, of Church Point. Citizen was found to have multiple gun shot wounds.
The Acadia Parish Coroner’s Office was called to assist in the investigation. Citizen’s body has been transported to the Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office for autopsy.
The suspect in this case is Raymond L. Celestine IV of East Ebby Street in Church Point.
Celestine, 20, was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail after turning himself in to authorities and has been charged with second-degree murder. Bond has been set at $350,000 by Judge Christian Earles.
No further information was released. The investigation continues.
