Arrest made in Sunday fatal shooting

One man has been arrested and more arrests are expected in the Sunday morning shooting that took the life of a Crowley man.
Police Chief K.P. Gibson reported that Dwight Lee Breaux, 38, of Welsh, has been charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder in connection with the incident in West Crowley following the closing of the 79th International Rice Festival.
Crowley police, along with officers from the Welsh Police Department, served the arrest warrants on Breaux Tuesday.
Kaleb Gibson, 21, of Crowley was killed when two shots were fired into a crowd that had gathered at the intersection of North Avenue B and West Second Street at about 2 a.m. Sunday, according to investigators.
A second, unidentified victim received minor injuries in the incident, according to Gibson.
The chief did not say whether or not a motive for the shooting had been determined.
“Our officers have been working around the clock following up on leads,” Gibson said. “Other arrests are pending.”
