In less than two weeks, 13 days to be exact, Relay For Life of Acadia Parish 2014 will take over Crowley High School’s track with much Cajun flare, all to benefit the American Cancer Society.

The 2014 event, set to begin at 6 p.m. with opening ceremonies and the cancer survivors’ lap on Saturday, May 10, is slated to continue through 6 a.m. on Sunday, May 11.

This year, Relay For Life of Acadia Parish is hoping the parish comes out to support the American Cancer Society and its mission to create a world with less cancer and more birthdays by helping people stay well, helping people get well, by finding cures, and by fighting back.

Relay For Life of Acadia Parish 2014’s theme is Laissez Les Bon Temps Relay and is celebrating Cajun culture. Throughout the night there will be entertainment, food and activities to keep everyone upbeat and excited as the event helps raise money for ACS. Among the bands donating their time for entertainment Saturday night and into Sunday morning are Dirt Road and Gypsy Sticks.

Ceremonies will also be held through the night recognizing cancer survivors, caregivers and those who have passed away from cancer, including the Luminaria Ceremony, set for 9 p.m. Luminaria bags that will line the track can be purchased until the day of Relay For Life for $10. To purchase one, contact any person involved with Relay For Life of Acadia Parish. Deadline to purchase cancer fact signs, sponsorships and torches, in honor of cancer survivors and caregivers or in memory of those who have died from cancer is Monday, April 28.

Relay For Life of Acadia Parish 2014 welcomes  all cancer survivors. A meal will be served for them as well.

Admission is free, but donations will be accepted and food and beverages will be for sale, with all proceeds going to ACS.
